The Pacific University women's tennis team posted a 7-2 win over UW-Oshkosh at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida on Sunday.
The Boxers (3-7) started the day, sweeping all three doubles matches for the first time on the 2018-19 season. Among the winners were the #1 team of
Marissa Hayashi/
Chantelle Baclay, who were victorious by an 8-7 margin. The #2 team of
Johanna Wilson and Haile Chang won by an 8-3 margin and the #3 team of
Jessica Eligio/
Adrienne Powell won 8-2.
As the match shifted over to singles, Pacific got wins at #1, #2, #3 and #5 singles. The win at #5 singles by
Jessica Eligio was her first collegiate win as she posted a 6-3,6-4 win. The Boxers' Haile Chang was a 7-5, 6-0 winner at #2 singles and
Adrienne Powell was a 6-3, 6-3 winner at #3 singles. For Powell, it is her team-leading seventh win and extends her winning streak to four. The Boxers'
Chantelle Baclay clinched the win with a 6-3, 6-1 win at #1 singles.
Next, Pacific will face Luther College on Monday and Wellesley College on Tuesday to wrap up its trip to Orlando.
