The Pacific University men's tennis team snapped a six-game losing skid with a convincing 9-0 win over Linfield on Saturday at the Holce Tennis Courts in Forest Grove.
The Boxers (9-8, 4-2 NWC) returned to its winning ways, sweeping all three doubles matches for the seventh time on the season. The match started with an 8-1 win at #2 doubles by the team of
Reyn Miyagawa and
Joey Hu, followed by an 8-4 win at #3 doubles by the team of
Griffin Fraser and
Sean Murphy by an 8-4 margin. The third win was the #1 doubles team of Rayden and
Koby Murata, who outlasted their Wildcat counterparts for an 8-6 win.
The singles play was tightly contested at #2 and #6 singles but the Boxers came through with a complete sweep of all six singles matches.
Reyn Miyagawa and
Rayden Murata were victorious by 6-1, 6-0 margins at #1 and #3 singles, respectively.
Jonathan Chung picked up a 6-0, 6-3 win at #4 singles, plus
Quentin Gonzalez was also a straight set winner, 6-2, 6-3 at #5 singles.
Sean Murphy posted a 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (10-8) win at #2 singles and
Koby Murata wrapped up the win with a 6-3, 1-6, 1-0 (10-5) victory at #6 singles.
Next on the schedule is a matchup against Lewis & Clark on Saturday, April 20 at the Holce Tennis Courts in Forest Grove.
