The Pacific University men's tennis team celebrated its Senior Day with a 6-3 win over Lewis & Clark on Saturday at the Holce Tennis Courts.
Prior to the match, the Boxers' honored senior
Griffin Fraser (pictured), who teamed up with
Sean Murphy for an 8-5 victory at #3 doubles. The win at #3 doubles and a win by the team of
Joey Hu and
Reyn Miyagawa gave Pacific an early 2-1 lead after doubles play.
The Boxers continued its winning ways, picking up wins in four of six singles matches. Murphy clinched the win for the Boxers with a 7-6 (10-7), 7-5 (10-5) win at #2 singles. Also, winning on the day was
Rayden Murata, who got the first win of the day, with a 6-3, 6-2 win at #3 singles.
Garret Katayama put Pacific ahead 4-1 with a 6-3, 6-0 win at #6 singles.
Wins by the Pioneers at #4 and #1 singles cut the deficit to 4-3 in favor of the Boxers. Murphy clinched the win with a victory at #2 singles and
Quentin Gonzalez wrapped up the day for the Boxers with a 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 win at #5 singles.
The win clinches the spot for the Boxers at the upcoming Northwest Conference Tournament. Before heading to the conference tournament, Pacific will wrap up the regular season on Sunday with a matchup against Willamette.
