Pacific women's tennis dropped a 6-3 decision to George Fox on Senior Day at the Holce Tennis Courts on Friday.
The Boxers (4-12, 1-6 NWC) had lost by a narrow 5-4 margin earlier in the season, setting the stage for a tightly-contested matchup in the rematch.
George Fox (7-14, 3-5 NWC), like the Boxers, shuffled its lineup and saw the Bruins start the match winning two of three doubles matches. In the earlier meeting, Pacific won two of the three doubles matches. The lone win on Friday for Pacific was an 8-5 win at #3 doubles by
Jessica Eligio and
Adrienne Powell.
Seniors Chantelle Baclay and Marissa Hayashi were honored prior to the match.
Four of the six singles matches were decided in the third set – two of which went in favor of the visiting Bruins.
Chantelle Baclay, who was playing in her final home match, won 3-6, 6-3, 6-0 at #1 singles and
Johanna Wilson came back from a set down for a 6-7, 6-3, 6-4, win at #4 singles. For both Wilson and Baclay, it is their eighth singles win of the season.
Pacific will conclude the season with a trip to Lewis & Clark on Saturday at 11 a.m. in Portland. The Pioneers posted a 7-2 win over the Boxers, earlier this year on February 24.
