The Pacific University men's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to NCAA Division I member, Portland State on Friday in Beaverton.
The Boxers (8-7) found themselves behind as the Vikings won all three doubles matches for the first point of the match to start the day. The singles action saw the #2 and #4 singles flights decided in a third-set tiebreaker. Junior
Rayden Murata dropped a 4-6, 6-3, 0-1 (10-4) decision to Branco Castelo at #2 singles. Freshman
Joey Hu was involved in tightly contested #4 singles match, losing to Avery West by a 1-6, 6-1, 0-1 (10-8) margin.
The Vikings (10-5) managed to win all six singles matches, raising its record to 10-5 on the season.
Next, Pacific will travel to Newberg on Saturday for a 1 p.m. matchup against the regionally-ranked Bruins.
