In a matchup of two teams in the top 10 of the latest ITA West Region rankings, host George Fox managed to defeat the Pacific University men's tennis team by a 9-0 margin on Saturday in Newberg.
The Bruins (8-7, 4-1 NWC) picked up a pair of tightly-contested matches in doubles. The #1 doubles team of Keaten Baker and Will Leach, who is ranked fifth in the West Region, outlasted the Boxers tandem of Koby and
Rayden Murata, who is ranked 14
th in the region by an 8-7 margin. Baker and Leach won it in a tiebreaker by a 10-5 score.
George Fox also got a win in a tiebreaker at #2 doubles when Alex Nimba/Luke Lematira defeated

Reyn Miyagawa by an 8-7 (10-5) margin. The Bruins completed the sweep with an 8-5 victory at #3 doubles.
Pacific (8-8, 3-2 NWC) shuffled up its singles lineup as freshman
Reyn Miyagawa saw his first action of the season at the #1 flight. He had a tough match against the #11 regionally-ranked Will Leach, who won by a 6-1, 6-4 margin.
One of the more tightly contested matches on the day was with
Rayden Murata and Keaten Baker at #3 singles. The two split the first two sets, Baker winning the opening set in a tiebreaker and Murata taking the second set by a 6-3 margin. The third set was decided with Baker winning a 10-5 tiebreaker.
Next, Pacific will host Linfield on Saturday, April 13 at 10 a.m. at the Holce Tennis Courts.
