A crucial series between two of the top teams in the Northwest Conference between George Fox and Pacific University was settled in a doubleheader on Tuesday.
The series was resumed on Tuesday after rain on Saturday in Forest Grove forced the series to series to be moved. When action resumed, the two teams split a twinbill on Tuesday. The Boxers winning game one by an 8-7 margin after falling behind early 5-1 and the Bruins taking the nightcap, 6-3.

Aaron Alexander was hit by a pitch; then he moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by
Von Ferguson.
With the tying run on second, the Bruins elected to intentionally walk
Chase Anderson to put runners on first and second. Then after a fly out for the second out of the inning, the Bruins decided to loaded the bases with it second intentional walk of the inning.
Next, the junior first baseman managed to draw a walk against Matt Voelzke, scoring Alexander for the winning run.
Three Boxers had two hits – Anderson, Alexander and
Derek Legeza to contribute to a 12-hit attack in the win. Four-different pitchers contributed to the win, including
Tyler Oscarson who started the resumption of the doubleheader on Tuesday. Oscarson pitched five innings, scattering six hits and striking out two before handing the ball over to
Derek Ridgway, who pitched the final three innings of one-hit relief to raise his record to 2-0.
The Bruins had 13 hits in the loss, including a four-hit game from Sam Swenson, who also had three RBIs in the loss. Voelzke was the third pitcher of the game for the Bruins, falling to 0-2. Â

The nightcap saw George Fox score two runs in the first inning en route to a 6-3 win over the Boxers to secure the series victory. Matt Voelzke, Kyler Brudwick each had two hits and Sam Swenson had two more RBI in the win. Plus, Brudwick and Derek Johnson each scored twice in the win.

The Boxers were limited to six hits by three George Fox pitchers with
Chase Anderson recording a team-high two hits in the loss. The Boxers stranded nine runners on base in the loss as
Sam Lawrence was the tough-luck loser, falling to 5-2 in 6.1 innings of work, allowing seven hits, six runs (four earned) and striking out five in the loss.

Trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the first, a RBI ground out by
Ian Blair brought in
Chase Anderson, who led off the inning with a double down the right-field line. Two more runs by the Bruins in the third inning put the visitors ahead by a 4-1 margin. George Fox added to its lead with a run in the top of the fifth before Pacific mounted a threat in its half of the inning. With the bases loaded, the Boxers'
Drew Fagerness cut into the lead with a two-RBI single. Trailing 5-3, the Boxers were looking to add to its lead before the Bruins got back-to-back strikeouts after a sacrifice bunt to silence the Pacific rally.
An insurance run by the Bruins in the sixth made it a three-run contest but the Boxers mounted a pair of threats against the visiting George Fox bullpen. In the final four innings, the Pacific managed to strand five of its nine runners including a pair in the seventh and ninth.

Next, Pacific will travel to Tacoma to face Pacific Lutheran for a three-game series. The two teams are separated by one game in the conference standings with the Boxers holding an 11-7 conference mark compared to 10-8 for the Lutes. Â Â
