Jordan Zweifel had a double double in both matches to lead the Pacific University volleyball team as the Boxers opened the 2019 season at the Oregon Trail Classic.
The Boxers (1-1) started the day, dropping a 19-25, 25-13, 25-23, 25-19 decision to host St. Thomas (Minn.). Pacific came back with a four-set win 25-22, 24-26, 25-12, 25-14 over Central to end the day.
Zweifel had 10 kills and 10 digs against the Tommies of St. Thomas and followed that up with 15 kills and 11 digs in the win over the Dutch of Central. The Tilllamook native came into the match with three career double double performances through her first two years.
Pacific started the day, winning its first set of the season by a 25-19 on the strength of a 6-0 run midway through the set. Zweifel had three of her kills and five of her digs en route to the double double.
St. Thomas came back to even the match at a set apiece with a 25-13 win in the second set. With the match tied at a set apiece, the third set saw the contest tied on eight occasions and three lead changes. After a hitting error and timeout, the Tommies managed to close out the set, scoring two of the final three points. The fourth set saw a balanced attack by the visitors, plus a .216 hitting percentage to secure the win.

Makenna Mahuna had 33 assists and
Haley Walz had 20 digs and a team-best two service aces.
Pacific regrouped in the nightcap against the Dutch. For the second match in a row, the two teams traded the first two sets before the Boxers came back to hit .400 in both the third and fourth set for the win. Junior

Milana Ivkovic were a potent tandem behind the strong play of Zweifel. Lum had 11 kills and eight digs, plus Ivkovic was a force on the service line with six aces to go along with nine kills en route to a .421 hitting percentage.
Lum had six kills in the fourth set as the Boxers led from start to finish. Zweifel started the match with a pair of kills in the first set, following it with a five kill effort in the second and four each in the third and fourth.
Next, Pacific will wrap up its efforts at the Oregon Trail Classic on Saturday as they travel to Lewis & Clark to face Methodist at 10 a.m. and George Fox in Newberg to face John Carroll at 4 p.m.
