For the second-straight day, the Pacific University volleyball team split its two matches as action wrapped up at the Oregon Trail Classic. The Boxers started the day with a 27-25, 23-25, 25-12, 25-17 win over Methodist, following that up with its first five-set loss of the season at the hands of John Carroll, 25-19, 18-25, 26-28, 25-20, 13-15.

Pacific (2-2) began the day with a four-set win over Methodist, spreading 41 kills among seven-different players including senior
Milana Ivkovic, who had 12 kills and a .357 hitting percentage to lead the Boxers. An omen to the day as the Boxers had 12 service aces in the win, including six from sophomore
Makenna Mahuna. The setter also had 32 assists and six digs to flirt with a triple double. Sophomore
Elika Unti added nine kills and a .533 hitting percentage with her efforts combined with Ivkovic, the Boxers' middle blockers accounted for 21 of the 41 kills.

The Boxers went back and forth with the Blue Streaks of John Carroll in the second match of the day. Outside hitters
Karlee Duncan and
Brittany Kahler led the attack for Pacific with 12 and 11 kills, respectively. In a matchup with two potent offenses, John Carroll managed to out hit Pacific by a .325 to .214 margin. Mahuna had another strong game as the setter with 51 assists, eight digs and six more service aces. Duncan added 12 digs for her first double double of the young season in the loss.

Next, Pacific will head to Kailua, Hawaii where they will host Simpson (Iowa) and Wells College at Le Jardin Academy on Sept. 7 and 8 as part of the Pacific Hawaii Invitational. The first match for the Boxers will be on Saturday, Sept. 7 at 9 a.m. (Hawaii time) and noon (Pacific Time). Pacific has four native Hawaiians on its roster including juniors

Terina DeFries (Waimea, Hawaii), freshman
Shaianne Cambra (Kapolei, Hawaii) and sophomore
