The Pacific University men's soccer team wrapped up its season-opening weekend with a 3-0 loss to Chapman on Sunday in Orange, California.

Cade Taniguchi and
Grant Garcia (pictured) each had a shot in the loss.
Chapman (1-1) received a pair of goals by Justo Garcia and a third from Aidan Wall.
In the contest, Wall ended the scoreless contest in the 16
th minute for the early lead for the host Panthers. The Pacific offense organized a threat before being ruled offside; then, the Panthers added a goal in the 29
th minute on a penalty kick.
With a 2-0 deficit, Garcia had a shot that was saved the Panthers, moments later an aggressive Pacific offense came away with a corner kick as a result. Chapman added a goal in the opening minutes of the second half for what proved to be the final margin.
In the closing minutes, Taniguchi had a shot that was blocked by the Panthers' defense to preserve the shutout.
Next, Pacific will host Oregon Tech on Thursday, Sept. 5 at 4:30 p.m. as part of a soccer doubleheader at Ledbetter Field on Hanson Stadium. The women will host Cal Tech at 7 p.m., after the contest.
