A pair of second half goals proved to be the difference as the Pacific men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to host Puget Sound in the Northwest Conference opener for both teams.
The Boxers (1-4-1, 0-1 NWC) were limited to a pair of shots in the loss by Puget Sound.
Braden Kojima and
Robert Nurmi each had a shot in the loss.
The Loggers (4-0-2, 1-0 NWC), who have not allowed a goal in its last five games, showed its prowess on the defensive side of the field.
Puget Sound ended the 0-0 game in the 58
th minute when Luke Murdock tallied his fourth goal of the season. Next, the Loggers added an insurance tally in the 77
th minute when Angel Herrera-Flores found the back of the net for the final margin.
It will be a quick turnaround for Pacific, who will face Pacific Lutheran on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in Tacoma.
