Three first half goals sparked visiting Willamette to a 4-0 win over the Pacific University men's soccer team on Saturday.
The Bearcats (5-1-2, 2-1 NWC) found the back of the net on some early opportunities on set pieces to take the lead en route to the win. Patrick Charlton and Ryan Sato each scored a goal and assisted on another as the Bearcats posted a 13-4 advantage in shots on goal. Goalkeeper Mason Kelliher had a pair of saves in the shutout.
The Boxers (1-6-1, 0-3 NWC)
Grant Rutledge had a pair of shots in the loss to lead the Pacific offensive efforts.
Jack Orum (pictured) came off the bench for the final 35:35, making three saves to keep the Bearcats in check. Pacific attempted to get on the scoreboard with three corner kicks and two shots in the second half in the loss.
With a 3-0 lead after the first 45 minutes, the Bearcats' Charlton added to the visitors lead in the 54
th minute for the final margin.
Pacific will be back in action on Sunday as they make the trek to McMinnville to face Linfield at 2:30 p.m.
