Mitch Takara scored his first collegiate goal and senior goalkeeper
Jack Cuevas extended his scoreless streak to 165:49 with his second-straight shutout en route to leading the Boxers to a 1-0 win over La Verne on Sunday.

The Boxers (1-2-1) called on Takara to come off the bench in the 43
rd minute. Quickly, he made an immediate impact as the La Verne defense quickly collapsed in front of the Pacific goal on one of the Boxers top offensive threats – senior
Robert Nurmi. As they came forward to put pressure on Pacific, Nurmi got a shot off but an alert Takara picked up the rebound for a shot and game-winning goal just inside the corner of the goal.

The Leopards (3-2) saw their starting goalkeeper go down with an injury two minutes into the contest were held without a shot in the first 45 minutes. La Verne turned up the intensity on the offensive side of the field in the final 45 minutes. Â Jack Kolodge got off a shot in the 59
th minute that was cleared off by the Boxers' defensive line.
Cuevas organized a strong defensive effort for Pacific, making a pair of saves en route to the shutout. For Pacific, they had a 9-6 advantage in shots in the win.
Next up for Pacific is a contest against NCAA Division II, Saint Martin's on Thursday, Sept. 12 at 3:30 p.m. in Lacey, Washington.
