The Pacific men's basketball team fought a tough first half before the guests from Whitworth were able to pull away in the second half en route to a 94-75 win.
Pacific and Whitworth played a tight first half with the largest lead held by Whitworth at six points, 37-31, with 2:31 remaining in the first 20 minutes. Pacific was able to respond with their own 6-0 run to end the half capped by two free throws from Brennen McNabb which tied the score at 37 at the half.
The Boxers (4-11, 1-5 NWC) were led in scoring from guard
Jared Cattell who finished with 15 points, plus Collin Rardin and
Davis Holly each finished with 13 points apiece.
Whitworth (12-3, 6-0 NWC) started the second half on a 13-4 run in the first four minutes of the half as they shot 72% (21-for-29) in the final 20 minutes for the victory. Sam Lees scored a game-high 26 points to lead the Pirates. Plus, Ben College had 20 points while Garrett Hull finished with a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
The Boxers next game will be Friday, January 25
th at 8 p.m. at home at the Stoller Center against Willamette.
