The Pacific University women's basketball team saw its nine-game winning streak end in a 61-58 loss to host Pacific Lutheran on Saturday.

Brilie Kovaloff had a game-high 20 points to lead Pacific to go along with three rebounds. Juniors
Courtney Carolan and
Camy Aguinaldo each had 12 points in the loss. Carolan also had six rebounds and five steals, whereas Aguinaldo had six assists, five rebounds and three steals.
The Lutes (8-9, 3-5 NWC) also had three players in double figures including Emma Janousek with 19, Kylie Rademacher with 14 and Katie Taylor, who had 13 in the win. Pacific Lutheran made 24 of 28 free throws (85.7%) in the win including its final nine attempts.
A 3-pointer by Carolan and a steal and layup by Aguinaldo put Pacific ahead 51-50 with 2:09 to play. On the Lutes' ensuing possession, they managed to tie the game for the fifth time when Janousek made one of two free throws with 1:57 to play. Then, PLU came away with a steal as Pacific attempted to regain the lead.
After a pair of PLU free throws, Kovaloff tied the game one more time and at 53 with :57 left to play. Then, the Lutes' Janousek pulled off a three-point play that put the home team ahead 56-53 and for the remainder of the game.
Twice in the closing seconds, Pacific managed to cut the deficit to one but Pacific Lutheran sealed the win with its efforts from the free-throw line.
Next for Pacific on the schedule is its second time facing Northwest Conference opponents as the action gets underway with a Friday night matchup against Lewis & Clark at the Stoller Center at 6 p.m. on January 31
st.
