Zeke Crawford made one of two free throws after being fouled on a last-second shot to lead host Lewis & Clark to an 89-88 win over host Pacific University in men's basketball action on Friday night in Forest Grove.
Crawford, who on the season is a 58.5% shooter from the free-throw line, drove to the hoop with the game tied at 88 and was fouled by the Boxers. The senior from San Francisco missed his first attempt before making his second attempt for what proved to be the difference.
Pacific (5-13, 2-7 NWC) was led by a 14-point effort from
Nick Drynan, who paced five Boxers in double figures.
Andy Isokpehi added 13,
Terrence Gilder and
Mario Mora each had 12 and
Colin Rardin had 10.
Lewis & Clark (8-11, 4-6 NWC) was also able to land five in double figures including Brian Smith, who had a game-high 29 to lead the Pioneers. Also in double figures were Matt Brown, whohad 12, Crawford finished with 11, Brenden Patrick and Nick Lombardi each had 10.
Down four, 88-84, Drynan made a jump shot to cut the deficit to two, 88-86 with 1:26 to play. The contest remained close and was tied for the seventh time when Rardin, who was fouled after corralling on an offensive rebound, connected on a pair of free throws with :17 to even the game at 88.
Next up for Pacific is a trip on Saturday to face Linfield in McMinnville at 6 p.m.
