Nick Drynan scored a game-high 26 points to lead the Pacific University men's basketball team, who dropped a 91-88 decision to host Whitman on Saturday night.
After a 3-pointer by the Boxers'
Chris Kobayashi tied the game at 32 in the opening half, the host Blues scored the next seven points to regain the lead for the remainder of the contest.
The Boxers (6-17, 3-11 NWC) were led by the efforts by Drynan, who was joined in double figures by a pair of 13-point efforts from
Andy Isokpehi and
Terrence Gilder, respectively.
The Blues (18-5, 13-1 NWC) were able to land four players in double figures including Jaron Kirkley (16 points), Trevor Osborne (14 points), Robert Colton (13 points) and Weston Crump (10 points).
Down by as much as 17 in the second half, Pacific refused to concede and the game was not decided until a last second 3-pointer by Kobayashi came up short. In the second half, the Boxers shot 55.9% from the field and limited the Blues to 35.7% shooting.
Next, Pacific will come home for its final home game on Friday, Feb. 21 at 8 p.m. when they host Pacific Lutheran on Senior Day.
