A hot shooting second half by visiting Pacific Lutheran led the visiting Lutes to a 91-78 win over Pacific University on Friday night at the Stoller Center.
Pacific (6-18, 3-12 NWC) was led by senior
Andy Isokpehi, who had a team-high 15 points. Isokpehi along with his five fellow seniors were honored in pre-game ceremonies. Also recognized were
Davis Holly,
Keegan Jones,
Trent Meyer,
John Rigatti and
Marcus Wallace, who will exhaust their eligibility this season. Despite the loss, the Boxers' bench outscored the Lutes, 39-3.
Pacific Lutheran (13-11, 9-6 NWC) was able to put four players in double figures in the win including Leighton Kingma, who had a game-high 26 points. He was joined in double figures by Seth Hall and Conor Geiger, who each scored 20 points and a double double effort from Jordan Thomas with 18 points and 13 rebounds.
The two teams were tied at 34 at halftime but the Lutes scored five of the first seven points of the second half en route to the win. The Boxers' junior
Chris Kobayashi hit his first of three second half 3-pointers to cut the deficit to two, 42-40 with 18:02 left in the contest. A 12-2 run by the visitors stretched the lead to double figures for the rest of the game.
Next, Pacific will close out the season with a trip on Saturday to Salem to face Willamette, the Boxers defeated the Bearcats, 124-113 on January 24 in Forest Grove.
