Boxers Lose to NWC Leader No. 8 Whitman

A decisive third quarter by host No. 8 Whitman led the Blues to a 72-46 win over Pacific University women's basketball on Saturday in Walla Walla, Washington. The win spoiled the 1,000-career point effort by Pacific University junior Camy Aguinaldo.

The Honolulu native became the 11th player in program history to reach the 1,000-point mark, making a pair of free throws midway through the second quarter en route to a team-high 16 points. Pacific falls to 15-8 overall and 9-5 in the Northwest Conference.

Whitman raised its record to 20-2 overall and 12-1 in the Northwest Conference  as they  stretched a three-point halftime lead, 30-27, to a 20-point lead in the third quarter as they outscored Pacific by a 22-5 margin in the quarter en route to the win.

The Blues' Makana Stone recorded a double double, scoring 18 points and grabbing 13 rebounds to lead Whitman. Mady Burdett and Lily Gustafson added 14 and 12 points, respectively.

Next, Pacific will come home for Senior Day on Friday, February 21 as they host Pacific Lutheran at 6 p.m. at the Stoller Center.
