Boxers Complete Series Sweep of Lewis & Clark with 13-5 Win

Pacific extended its winning streak to four on the strength of a six-RBI game from senior Dylan Morgan as the Boxers completed a series sweep of Lewis & Clark with a 13-5 win on Sunday.

The Boxers (5-5, 3-0 NWC) overcame an early 2-0 deficit, scoring five runs in the bottom of the first – four of which came in on a grand slam by Morgan. The six RBIs by Morgan are the most since a seven-RBI game by teammate Trevor Quinn at Linfield (April 22, 2019).

The Pioneers (2-8, 0-3 NWC) were able to record 12 hits in the loss. Nine of the 12 came from the top five in the lineup, including three from leadoff batter Michael Contreras in the loss. Starting pitcher Andrew Yarak went the first 4.2 innings, allowing eight hits, seven runs in the loss to fall to 0-2.

The offensive fireworks were not just by Morgan as four of his teammates had multiple hits including Andrew Thomas, who had his first career home run in the eighth inning. Ryan Krout scored three times and went 2-for-4 at the plate.

Pacific utilized four pitchers in the contest, including Sage Dunaway for his first win of his career. Dunaway pitched 3.1 innings of two-hit relief and teammate Liam Cammall went the final 3.2 innings of three-hit relief for his second save of the weekend.

Next, Pacific will travel to local rival Linfield for a three-game series that will get underway with a noon doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 29.
