The Pacific University softball team dropped a doubleheader to No. 3 Linfield, 4-1 and 4-0 in McMinnville on Saturday.
The Boxers (4-9, 0-2 NWC) were held to three hits in both contests. In game one, the Boxers plated its only run in the sixth inning. Pacific plated its run after pinch runner
Jordyn Duntley scored from second on a ball that was misplayed off the bat of
Taylor Nishimura.
Pacific stranded two base runners each in the third and sixth inning.
Nicole Martinez,
Montana Vaught and
Hailey Miller each had a hit in the loss.
In the nightcap, Jordan Bennett allowed just three singles and got eight hits to go along with four runs of support for the win. Kamry Apling went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Linfield to the win.
The two teams will resume the series with another doubleheader on Sunday at noon – the two coaches agreed after the game to move the game back an hour.
