Host George Fox scored 12 of the last 15 points en route to a 59-54 win over the Pacific University women's basketball team in Newberg on Tuesday.
Pacific (14-6, 8-3 NWC) was led by junior
Courtney Carolan, who had a game-high 23 points to lead the Boxers. Carolan hit three 3-pointers as the Boxers made eight for the game. Freshman
Rilee Price added 10 points for her fifth game in double digits.
The Bruins (16-4, 7-3 NWC) were led by a pair of 13-point efforts from Emily Holder and Emily Spencer, plus Kylin Collman added 12 – 10 of which came from the free-throw line.
Pacific held a 51-47 lead when senior
Alexa Hinkley drained a 3-pointer with 5:04 left in the contest. The Bruins' Emily Spencer set up the game-deciding run as she disrupted a drive by the Boxers'
Camy Aguinaldo that led to a layup up by Spencer en route to seven unanswered points en route to the win.
Facing a five-point deficit, 56-51, Carolan brought Pacific within two as she hit a 3-pointer with :22 left to go. The Bruins sealed the win, making three of its final four free throws.
Next, Pacific will host Puget Sound on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 4 p.m. at the Stoller Center.
