Pacific & NWC Work Towards Resuming Play with Announcement of Spring Schedules

Pacific University and the Northwest Conference continue to plan for a return to athletic competition and will do so with an emphasis on the health and safety of our student-athletes, coaches and staff. All events will be closed to the public with no spectators allowed in attendance. Boxer home competitions will be live-streamed and available for viewing through GoBoxers.com. We will also keep you updated with live streaming options for road competitions provided by fellow NWC institutions.

We are announcing proposed schedules for many of the fall, winter, and spring sports. Competition is currently slated to restart in February with men's and women's swimming, along with men's and women's basketball. Schedules for those sports, along with the fall sports of men's and women's soccer and volleyball, and spring sports of women's lacrosse, men's and women's tennis, baseball, and softball, have all been published.

"The NWC schedules can be changed or canceled at any time as we continue to monitor and work within local, state, and federal health directives," a statement from the NWC.

Schedules for football, golf, track and field, rowing and wrestling will be announced at a later date, while times of contests will be published as they become available.

For fall and winter sports, the NWC will have the institutions only play fellow NWC institutions in their respective states. Lewis & Clark and Willamette have each opted out of the sports of football and men's and women's basketball.

Swimming is to commence on Saturday, February 6th, with an NWC dual meet where the Boxers will host George Fox. The NWC championship meet has been canceled, while the NCAA Division III championships remain uncertain due to COVID restrictions.

For the basketball season, the Boxers will play only fellow Oregon NWC schools, Linfield and George Fox, in home-and-home women's and men's doubleheaders, playing each opponent four times. The NWC hopes to stage a championship tournament featuring all Conference schools playing basketball with the winner receiving the NWC's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III tournaments if those events are to be held.

The sports of men's and women's soccer and volleyball will have the Boxers play the four other Oregon schools in competition, with action starting in late February. Soccer will open with a men's and women's doubleheader at Willamette on Sunday, February 28th, while volleyball will travel to George Fox on Friday, February 26th, for their first match of the spring.

The NCAA has officially canceled all Division III fall sports national championships for the 2020-21 academic year.

Spring sports start with men's and women's tennis competing on March 6th. Baseball will open their season on March 13th-14th with a four-game series at Pacific Lutheran and play a four-game series with all NWC teams. Softball will open the following weekend on March 20th-21st as they host Linfield for a four-game series, and like baseball, will play a four-game series with all NWC teams. Women's lacrosse will also open the 2021 season on the weekend of March 20th-21st by hosting Willamette for a contest on each day.

Updates on competition schedules and statuses will continue to be posted here on GoBoxers.com and Pacific athletics social media pages when they become available.
