Pacific Earns Three Points on the Road

NEWBERG, Ore.-  The Pacific University men's soccer team returned to form on Sunday afternoon, earning all three points after their 2-1 win over George Fox.

Pacific (5-6-1, 2-4-1 NWC) tallied just five shots in the contest, but were extremely clinical with their scoring chances as they found the back of the net twice. George Fox (4-7-0, 2-5-0 NWC) enjoyed a lot of the ball and fired 15 shots with nine on target, but were unable to great many clear-opportunities, a credit to the impressive Boxer defense.

The visitors only managed one shot in the first 45 minutes, but some tactical changes would help open the game in the second half.

Tait Kuchenbrod (Freshman/Missoula, MT) started a brilliant attacking move in the 58th minute when he won the ball high up the pitch and whipped in a dangerous ball across the face of goal. Jayden Adkison (Freshman/Kapolei, HI) pounced on the bouncing ball in the box before laying off to Jericho Lara (Junior/Makawao, HI) who opened the scoring with a fantastic finish to make it 1-0.

The Boxers doubled their lead in the 67th minute when Alex Pasmann (Senior/Salt Lake City, UT) dispossessed a George Fox defender in front of his own goal and confidently ripped his shot into the back of the net to give his team a 2-0 advantage. Pasmann's first career goal gave Pacific some much-needed breathing room heading into the final 20 minutes.

The Bruins scored in the 90th minute to make the score 2-1, but with only seconds remaining, the Boxers were able to hold on and earn all three points on the road.

By The Numbers

  • Noah Edwards (Freshman/Honolulu, HI) and Lara each tallied two shots.
  • Zachary Aderinto (Freshman/Kailua-Kona, HI) made a career-high eight saves in a great performance for the first-year goalkeeper.
  • Adkison provided his second assist of the season.
