TACOMA, Wash.- The Pacific University women's soccer team faced some difficult circumstances in Tacoma as they were pitted against an unbeaten Puget Sound side and were forced to battle elements on a rainy afternoon. The Loggers nicked a goal in 62
nd minute and held on to earn three points after their 1-0 victory.
Pacific (5-9-1, 3-8-1 NWC) struggled to find their footing in the match, registering just five shots with two on target. Puget Sound (14-0-2, 10-0-2 NWC) felt confident on their home ground with 16 total shots in the match and fired many shots from dangerous areas with nine shots on frame.
The two teams were scoreless after a sloppy first half as the rain would heavily pour in the opening 45 minutes.
The skies would open and the game would open up as well in the second half as both teams found more space in the attacking areas.
Puget Sound finally got their goal in the 62
nd minute when Radhika Webster Schultz found the back of the net to put her team out in front. The extreme conditions made it difficult for the Boxers to find an opening and the Loggers would hold on for the 1-0 win.
