WALLA WALLA, Wash.- The Pacific University men's soccer team dropped their second match in two days, falling 5-0 at Whitman on Sunday afternoon.
Pacific (4-6-1, 1-6-1 NWC) struggled with Whitman's Edwin Romero who recorded a hat trick in the contest. Two first-half goals and three goals in the final 45 minutes would give the hosts all three points after a very good performance on their home turf.
The Blues tallied 11 shots with seven on target, causing many problems for the Boxers' defense. Pacific were unable to muster a shot in the first half but became much more lively after halftime, recording five shots on the day.
Nico Allen (Junior/Sierra Vista, AZ) proved to be quite the attacking threat in his 45 minutes on the pitch, notching two shots on target from his forward position.
Strikers
Cooper Sheakley (Freshman/Happy Valley, OR) and
Sam Altman (Sophomore/Portland, OR) looked to inject some life into the side as they each tallied two shots in the match.
Whitman opened the scoring in the 18
th minute and doubled their lead just five minutes later. The Blues continued their fine attacking display, scoring just three minutes into the second half and finding a fourth goal just four minutes later. The hosts added one more goal in the 65
th minute and earned all three points after their 5-0 win.
