Boxers' Offense Explodes in 42-19 Rout

FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Joshua Harris's (Senior/Sonora, CA) three touchdown day lifted the Pacific University football team over Lewis & Clark on Saturday afternoon inside Hanson Stadium, as the Boxers cruised to a 42-19 victory.

Pacific (4-3, 3-2 NWC) saw their offense return to form this afternoon as they recorded 464 yards of total offense with a season-high 304 yards on the ground. The defense held the Pioneers to just five points until the fourth quarter with just 47 net rushing yards.

Josh Harris had his best game of the season with 138 yards and a season-high three touchdowns on 25 carries. This was the fifth 100-yard rushing game for the senior running back who leads the team with 12 touchdowns on the year.

Ethan Kameshige (Junior/Ontario, OR) joined in on the action with 86 yards on his eight touches, good enough for a 10.9-yard average and a touchdown.

Quarterback Kenyon Harris (Senior/Ogden, UT) had a steady day under center, completing 13 passes for 160 yards and a touchdown.

Ty Hargis (Senior/Lebanon, OR) bounced back after a tough week, making six grabs for 101 yards while scoring his third touchdown of the season.

How It Happened

The Boxers showed their dominance starting on the opening kickoff, forcing a fumble and taking possession deep into Lewis & Clark territory. Pacific then scored on their first play from scrimmage when Kenyon Harris connected with Hargis for a 30-yard strike to take a 7-0 lead less than 10 seconds into the game.

The visitors would kick a field goal just before the end of the first quarter, but the Boxers would immediately get back to work in the second period. Josh Harris raced 31-yards for his first touchdown of the day, making the score 14-3.

The next drive for the hosts was highlighted by an unbelievable effort from Kameshige, who would shed multiple defenders before hurdling a defensive back on his way to the end zone. The junior's 46-yard run would make it 21-3 in favor of the Boxers.

Following another stop from the Pacific defense, Kenyon Harris would cap off a 12-play, 65-yard drive by calling his number from nine yards out to extend the lead.

With less than two minutes remaining in the half, Lewis & Clark muffed a punt on their own two-yard line and the Boxers would recover. Josh Harris punched it in for his second touchdown as Pacific snuck in one more touchdown before the break to take a 35-3 lead.

Josh Harris scored his third and final touchdown of the contest towards the end of the third quarter and that would conclude the Pacific scoring for the day.

The Pioneers would eventually find some rhythm toward the end of the game, but it was too little, too late and the Boxers would earn the much-need victory.

By The Numbers

  • Rustin Williams (Junior/Sherwood, OR) led the Pacific defense with six total tackles, two tackles-for-loss, one sack, and a forced fumble.
  • Sancho Eskridge (Sophomore/Carmichael, CA) and Noah Steverson (Sophomore/Rohnert Park, CA) each made four tackles.
  • This was Pacific's ninth straight victory against Lewis & Clark.
