TACOMA, Wash.- The Pacific University women's soccer team came up just short against a talented Pacific Lutheran side, falling in a tight 2-1 contest.
Pacific (6-10-1, 4-9-1 NWC) continued to struggle going forward, tallying just three shots in the match. The Lutes (15-2-0, 11-2-0 NWC) controlled the run of play and created many scoring opportunities, registering 19 shots with eight on target. The hosts also managed to win eight corner kicks.
Pacific Lutheran found the opener in the 29
th minute when Ashlee Gormley found the back of the net. The visitors doubled their lead in the second half when Alyssa Leong netted her fourth goal of the season.
The Boxers finally showed signs of life in the 89
th minute when
Brooklyn Yano (Sophomore/Kaneohe, HI) scored her first goal of the season after
Lydia King (Senior/Hillsboro, OR) supplied her with the assist.
Despite the goal, it was simply too late in the match for Pacific to complete the comeback and the Lutes would earn all three points.

- Catherine Corlett (Sophomore/Gilbert, AZ) kept the Boxers in the contest with six impressive saves.
