FOREST GROVE, Ore.- Kenyon Harris (Senior/Ogden, UT) and
Kara Putman (Junior/Tillamook, OR) have been named Pacific University Boxer Club Student-Athletes of the Month for their outstanding showings in the month of September.
Quarterback
Kenyon Harris received Northwest Conference Offensive Athlete of the Week honors after his stellar performance in Pacific's 38-35 win over Pomona-Pitzer. The Boxers' signal caller was 26-34, throwing for 305 yards and three touchdowns. Harris also facilitated the game-winning drive with less than two minutes remaining in the contest. The senior completed seven passes on the final drive and capped it off by finding
Ty Hargis in the back of the end zone with four seconds left to give his team their first victory of the season.
Harris carried his momentum into the conference opener, going 17-24 for 233 yards and a career-high five touchdown passes to tie a program record. The Boxers' signal caller connected with eight different receivers and led his team to a season-high 49 points in their win over Willamette.
Kara Putman posted a runner-up finish in the PLU Invitational, leading women's cross country squad to victory in the 6k race. Putman's impressive runner-up finish was a 6k PR for her (22:30.40), and a strong start to her senior season.
Putman continued her fantastic month by leading the Boxers with her 11th place finish and PR time of 18:39.0 at the Willamette Invitational. Putman was the second NWC runner to cross the line, just one second behind George Fox's Kara Helland.
