TACOMA, Wash- Pacific University Volleyball team struggled to find consistency as they fell to Pacific Lutheran in four sets on Saturday night in Tacoma (18-25, 19-25, 25-20, 14-25).
The Boxers (4-9, 2-5 NWC) were unable to stop the hot offense of the Lutes (10-7, 7-1 NWC) as they posted a .317 hitting percentage on the contest in comparison to the Boxers .144.
Although the first two sets proved to be challenging for the Boxer offense, they found their stride in set three as they sent home a season high 19 kills in the set which led to them win the set 25-20. Unfortunately, they were unable to carry the momentum into the 4th as the Lutes came back with a vengeance to seal the match 3-1.
Offensively the Boxers were led by Mara Murphy (Freshman/ Salt Lake City, UT) and Allison Brown (Sophomore/ Oregon City, OR) who each tallied 10 kills on the night. Murphy was errorless in her 29 attempts as hit .448 on the evening. Setter Shaianne Cambra (Junior/Kapolei, HI) led the squad with 34 assists.
Defensively, the Boxers had three defenders that posted double-digit dig totals. Haley Walz (Senior/ Tucson, AZ) led the way with 25 while Danica Nelson (Freshman/ Folsom, CA) and Allie Hertager (Junior/ Medford, OR) chipped in 10 of their own.
