Boxer Returners Shine in 89-73 Win Over Sagehens

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Pacific University women's basketball team rolled to an 86-77 win on Saturday evening against the Sagehens of Pomona-Pitzer. Pacific was led in scoring by Rilee Price (Junior/ Brea, CA) who scored 23 points, Camy Aguinaldo (Senior/ Honolulu, HI) who added 18 points and Brilie Kovaloff (Junior/ Honolulu, HI) who also tallied 18 of her own.
 
The Boxers were opened the game in the first five and half minutes even with the Sagehens at a 10. The Boxers were able to propel themselves to a commanding 24-14 lead at the end of the first quarter behind 3-4 from three-point range over the final three minutes of the quarter.
 
Aguinaldo would come out clicking on all cylinders to open the second quarter scoring the first four baskets for the Boxers. Aguinaldo's buckets included three layups and one jumper from downtown. Price would handle the scoring on the next two possessions converting two jump shots to stretch the Boxer lead to 14. The Boxers were able to maintain the lead to close out the quarter after Kovaloff was able to knock down a three pointer to close out the second quarter with a 49-34 lead.
 
The Boxers were able to score four points in the first 35 seconds of the second half after Sydney Gray (Junior/ Central Point, OR) converted a layup and two free throws. The Boxers over the next five minutes would grow the lead to 21 after Kaylee-Brooke Manuel (Junior/ Nanakuli, HI) converted a layup from the right block. The Boxers found themselves with a 71-52 lead at the end of the 3rdquarter.
 
The fourth quarter would be more of the same for the Boxers who would grow a lead to as much as 23 before the Boxers would claim the 89-73 win.
