The Pacific women's tennis team broke out the rackets for the first time this spring against other competition as they played host to Pacific Lutheran for Northwest Conference action.
Boxers earned the match win 6-3 over the Lutes to open the season 1-0 and also extend their match win streak against Pacific Lutheran to three-straight matches.
Doubles action opened the day and the Boxers were led by the team of
Sydnie Binder and
Cassidy Binder who posted an 8-3 win in doubles competition. While the other two doubles matches went the way of the Lutes as the team of
Jessica Eligio and
Kailei Eustis fell 4-8 and the team of
Cara Tamaye and
Kendall Taomoto fought hard but lost 3-8.
Pacific answered in singles action winning five of the six singles matches on the day. Both Sydnie and
Cassidy Binder each nabbed victories with 6-0, 6-0 scores, while
Gillian Mead won her match 6-1, 6-0. Eustis and Tamaye both also earned wins in singles action with scores of 6-2, 6-3 and 6-3, 6-1, respectively. Eligio had a tough singles contest and fell 2-6, 0-6.
The season continues for the Boxers next weekend March 13th and 14th when they face Lewis & Clark in Portland on Saturday for a non-conference match and then at home on Sunday for a Conference match.
