TACOMA, Wash. – Pacific Women's Soccer faced the reigning Northwest Conference champions, Pacific Lutheran, on Saturday afternoon and it was the Lutes who surged to a 3-0 victory on their own turf.
PLU scored three times in the second half to pick up the 3-0 win, earning three points to begin their conference campaign.

How It Happened
The two teams would head into the break scoreless after some excellent defending from Pacific's backline. Neither team would muster a shot on goal in the first 45 minutes.
Pacific Lutheran managed to open the scoring early in the second half when Hannah Cecil dribbled to the byline before squaring it across to Olivia Boehm, who turned it in at the back post, making it 1-0 to the hosts.
The Lutes doubled their lead in the 74
th minute when Ashlee Gormley did well with her back to goal, spinning and firing a left footed shot into the bottom corner to make it a two-goal advantage.
The hosts struck again in the 80
th minute when Boehm got on the end of a through pass from Gormley before tucking it in the corner for her second goal of the match.
The Boxers got one goal back just two minutes later when Garcia blasted her free kick into the top corner, bagging her fifth goal of the season.
What It Means
Pacific falls to 0-2 in NWC play as they search for their first conference victory. PLU earns all three points and open their conference schedule 1-0.
