TACOMA, Wash. - The Boxer Cross Country teams competed in their first full distance races of the season today at the PLU Invite. The women raced 6,000m and the men raced 8,000m. Both teams had strong races, with several individuals placing in the top ten and two women moving up on Pacific Cross Country's All Time Top-25 record list.

Top Performers
Annie Berry led the women with her 4th place finish and time of 22:39.1. Berry ran inside the top 5 women the whole race, closing out to a very close finish behind third place.
Liz Bradley,
Cris Brethower and
Maddy Hubbs all finished in the top 20 of the race, finishing 8th, 11th and 16th, respectively.
Will Wada led the men's race with his impressive 6th place finish. Wada ran in third place position until the last 50 meters of the race, where he fell back to 6th and clocked in at 26:01.30, just six seconds out of third place.
Reese Yamamoto was the second Boxer to cross the line, finishing in 52nd place with an 8k PR of 28:16.30.

Annie Berry's performance earns her a spot on Pacific's Top 25 Performance List for the women's cross country 6k. She now sits 7th on that list with her 22:38.1 finish from today. Brethower's PR time of 23:24.3 moves her up to #19 on the Top 25 list.

What It Means
The women finished in 2nd place out of 7 teams, with a score of 56 points. That puts them only 27 points behind winning team George Fox. The men finished in 7th place out of 8 teams, with a score of 175 points. They were missing
Carlos Masuko this race, usually a top-scorer for the Boxers.Â
 "Today was a good day for the teams first 6k and 8k races," said head coach
Bailee Krings. "Especially for the men, racing their first 8k is a big learning experience. I thought both teams had solid performances for the first full distance races of the season. There's a lot of work left to be done!"
