How It Happened

Pacific sputtered early in the first set, falling into a 4-1 deficit, but quickly put together a 10-3 scoring run to take the lead and force a Lewis & Clark timeout. The Boxers continued to surge after the timeout when a service ace from Churchfield and a pair of kills from Powell gave Forest Grove's team a comfortable advantage. The hosts clawed within one point but Pacific managed to hold off the comeback and take the set 25-21.

The Boxers carried momentum into the second set and raced to a 10-3 lead, using four kills from Murphy to spark the rally. Pacific cruised the rest of the way and closed out the Pioneers 25-16 in set two.

Another hot start from Pacific gave the Red and Black a 6-0 cushion before L&C finally ended the run. Murphy continued her excellent night with three early kills to start the third set before Sarah Hon rattled off three of her four aces to extend the lead. Two more kills from Powell allowed the senior to reach double-digits and the Boxers solidified the 25-14 set victory for the sweep.

What It Means

The Boxers improve to 6-4 and 1-2 in NWC play while the Pioneers drop their sixth straight contest, falling to 1-7 and 0-3 in conference action.
