SALEM, Ore.- Pacific men's basketball picked up their second straight win on Saturday with a win in Salem over Willamette, 106-84.
Pacific made an impressive 13 three-point field goals of the 27 they attempted. They had an efficient night from the floor in general shooting 50% (38-75).
Top Performances
- Lucas Winkler had a career night at the point guard position earning a triple-double, 13 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists.
- Jacob Bolger led the Boxers with 21 points on 10-18 shooting from the field.
- Ethan Chung produced an efficient night going 3-5 from the field and 6-6 from the line to record 14 points.
How It Happened
Through the first six minutes of the action the teams played fairly even with a score of 12 apiece with 13:53 remaining in the first half. The teams would trade buckets over the course of the next six minutes with neither team having a lead greater than four. With the Boxers leading 35-32, they would score three possessions in a row to take an eight-point lead with 4:25 remaining. The Red and Black would grow the lead to 10 before the Bearcats closed the half on a 10-2 run to trail by two, 50-48.
Over the first four minutes of the closing half, the Boxers would open up a 10-point lead at a score of 65-55. Willamette did not throw in the towel however as they battled to keep it a single-digit deficit. That did not last long, as the Boxer offense caught fire as they went on a 25-10 run to take a 90-71 lead with 8:09 remaining. It was all Pacific from there as they closed out the second consecutive win on the weekend with the 106-84 victory.
History Made
Lucas Winkler's Triple-Double is the first Triple-Double recorded by a Boxer since 2000 when digital records were first kept.
