Boxers shut out Whitman 1-0 for second straight win

Look out.

Pacific's young women's soccer team is gaining confidence.

The Boxers shut out Whitman 1-0 Saturday at Hanson Stadium for their second straight victory.

"That confidence now that we feel as a group is really showcasing through even our youngest players and through our seniors," Pacific head coach Chelsea Davis said. "It's really a confidence thing.

"I think players are really recognizing what their roles are and there's good cohesion within the group. Players are stepping up in big moments that they need to and raising the level."

Catalina Alvarado stepped up for the Boxers Saturday, scoring the only goal of the match on a corner kick in the 59th minute.

Chanyn Santos also had a shot on goal for Pacific in the victory.

Goalkeeper Isabelle De La Cruz recorded one save to preserve the shutout as Pacific's defense limited Whitman's scoring opportunities.

The Boxers have allowed just two total goals over their last four matches.

Pacific is back at home on Sunday for another Northwest Conference match against Whitworth.

"I just want to see the same type of confidence and organizational structure, defensively and offensively, the ability to move the ball and pass around Whitworth and find their exposure points and get after them," Davis said.
