TACOMA, Wash. -- Down 2-0 on the road, Pacific rallied to force a fifth set.
But the magic ended there as the Boxers fell 3-2 at Puget Sound.Â
Tied 13-13 in the fifth set, a block by
Emily Cheavtharn and
Anneke Hanson got Pacific to match point. However, the Loggers tied the set at 14-14 on a kill by Mia Fedota.
A kill by Cheavtharn again got the Boxers to match point at 15-14. But Puget Sound closed the set on a 3-0 run to win the match.
The Loggers got off to a strong start in the Northwest Conference match, winning the first set 25-16 and the second 25-15.
Puget Sound raced out to a 10-4 lead in the third set, but Pacific roared back to win 25-22 and extend the match.
Tied 21-21 in the fourth set, the Boxers finished strong, winning 25-22 on a kill by
Mara Murphy.
Murphy finished with 14 kills, three aces and 11 digs.
Kayla Craft led Pacific with 16 kills. Cheavtharn had 36 assists, three blocks and 11 digs.
Claire Stipsits added 18 digs.
Next, the Boxers play at George Fox on Wednesday before returning home to host Pacific Lutheran Thursday.
