GEORGETOWN, Texas -- Pacific opened its Texas trip Friday afternoon with a convincing 76-61 victory over Southwestern.Â
The Boxers never trailed in the game, jumping out to a 17-11 lead at the end of the first quarter.Â
Leading 36-31 at halftime, Pacific extended its advantage to as many as 16 points, 56-40, with 2:57 remaining in the third period.Â
After Southwestern got within eight points to start the fourth period, the Boxers answered with a 6-0 run to put away the Pirates for good.
Sydney Gray finished with 20 points and six rebounds to lead Pacific.
Aliann Schmidt added 16 points and three rebounds off the bench.
The Boxers shot 36.4 percent from the field and only 16.7 percent from 3, but outrebounded Southwestern 39-22. Pacific also took advantage of 27 turnovers by the Pirates.Â
Next, the Boxers play at Concordia Texas on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.Â
