Pacific made the most of its scoring opportunities, putting two of three shots on goal into the back of the net to defeat Linfield 2-1 Friday night.
Tyler Scott scored the Boxers first goal on an assist by
Aidan Pierias in the 43rd minute. But Sid Kosaris answered just a minute later to even the match at 1-1 entering halftime.
Aidan Heflin scored the game-winning goal on an assist by
Brodie Buchert in the 88th minute.Â
The victory snapped a three-game losing streak.Â
"The guys really rebounded and responded from a low part of the season in the last week and a half and played with a lot of pride," Pacific head coach
Brandon Porter said. "It's been a tough couple of weeks, so for them to play with that amount of pride and passion was very encouraging. They earned every bit of that game."Â
"As a group, they committed to tackling. They were willing to sacrifice. It was a good group effort."
Pacific goalkeeper
Zach Aderinto recorded six saves in the win.Â
The Boxers close the regular season Sunday at home against Willamette at 1:30 p.m.Â
"I want to see them carry over that passion against a team they've had trouble with in the past," Porter.Â
