SANTA CRUZ, Calif. -- Pacific (5-3) opened the UCSC December Classic Tuesday afternoon with a 65-56 victory over host UC Santa Cruz.
Brilie Kovaloff led the Boxers with 18 points, six rebounds and two assists.
Rilee Price finished with eight points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Emily Holsan added eight points and three steals.
Sydney Gray had seven points, three rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Tied 17-17, Kovaloff knocked down a 3-pointer to give Pacific a 20-17 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Boxers led the rest of the way as a Gray layup stretched the lead to nine points, 26-17, with 7:09 remaining in the second period.
Another Kovaloff 3-pointer gave Pacific its largest lead of the game, 49-32, with 3:58 remaining in the third quarter.
Next, the Boxers play Coe College on Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the UCSC December Classic.
