SANTA CRUZ, Calif. -- Pacific scored its second most points of the season. But it wasn't enough to keep up with Coe College as the Boxers fell 89-83 in overtime Wednesday afternoon in the UCSC December Classic.
Brilie Kovaloff finished with 21 points, seven rebounds, six assists and two steals to lead Pacific.
Sydney Gray had 13 points and seven rebounds.
Alexis Intong added 15 points and six rebounds off the bench.
The game had nine ties and 15 lead changes.
The Boxers trailed 22-18 at the end of the first quarter. A Gray layup tied the game at 24-24 with 7:24 remaining in the second period. An Intong layup then put Pacific ahead 28-26 with 5:59 to go. But Coe made a 3-pointer at the buzzer to take a 39-38 lead into halftime.
The Boxers closed the third quarter on a 10-0 run to enter the fourth ahead 56-51. With Pacific leading 68-62 with 3:43 remaining in the game, Coe answered with a 7-0 run to take a one-point lead, 69-68, with 1:43 to go.
After Kovaloff knocked down a 3-pointer to put the Boxers back on top, 71-69, Coe made a layup with 1:13 remaining to send the game into overtime.
Pacific never led in overtime as Coe outscored the Boxers 18-12 in the extra period.
Next, Pacific hosts Calvin University on Saturday, Dec. 30 at 6 p.m. inside the Stoller Center.
