ORANGE, Calif.- The Pacific University softball team suffered a loss in extra innings on Thursday afternoon against Chapman University.
 
The Panthers were able to score the lone run in the contest on a two out single in the bottom of the ninth inning to earn the victory.
 
Top Performers

• Mia Barrozo had a stellar performance in the circle for the Boxers throwing 8.2 innings while only surrendering five hits.
• Kayla Kodani used her four plate appearances effectively drawing two walks.
• Samantha Madsen and Alexus Carter recorded the two hits the Boxers were able to register.

 
How It Happened
 
The Boxers were held without a baserunner for the first nine batters of the game. Chapman was able to get a runner on base in each of the first three innings but Barrozo was able to leave two of the three runners left on base with stellar pitching on the rubber.
 
Pacific was able to threaten in the top of the fourth inning when Samantha Pettit earned a leadoff walk which brough Kodani to the plate who also earned a free pass to first. The Boxers however left both runners stranded after three consecutive outs at the plate.
 
After a quiet bottom of the fourth, the Boxers produced another scoring threat when Amanda Jefferies pinch ran with no outs and was able to steal second. She would however be stranded at second ending the scoring threat.
 
By the time the game had reached the bottom of the ninth inning, the Boxers pitching and defense was able to strand five Panther runners on the base paths. With two outs in the inning and a runner on second, the Panthers were able to produce a single to right field that was good enough to give the hosts the 1-0 victory.
