Pacific went to toe-to-toe with Whitworth for five sets.
But the Boxers couldn't record their first Northwest Conference win of the season, falling 3-2 Friday night inside the Stoller Center.
After winning the third set 25-21 to take a 2-1 lead, Pacific led 18-16 in the fourth before the Pirates outscored the Boxers 9-3 to even the match.Â
Up 14-12 and facing match point, Pacific again couldn't finish off Whitworth as the Pirates answered with a 4-0 run to win the match.
Junior
Mara Murphy finished with 27 kills, one shy of tying Pacific's school record. Murphy, who hit .219, also had three aces and 10 digs in the loss.
Kayla Craft had 13 kills and nine blocks.
Emily Cheavtharn recorded 46 assists and 11 digs.
Danica Nelson added 23 digs.Â
As a team, Pacific hit .197 compared to .208 by Whitworth.Â
