Pacific could not give visiting Whitworth its first Northwest Conference loss.
But the Boxers did give the Pirates an early scare, winning the opening set before ultimately falling 3-1 Saturday night inside the Stoller Center.
After edging Whitworth 25-21 in the first set, Pacific led 11-9 in the second before the Pirates answered with a 4-0 run and never trailed again, winning 25-17.
The Boxers went on a 4-0 run to take an 18-17 lead late in the third set. However, Whitworth responded with a 6-1 run to defeat Pacific 25-22.
The Pirates jumped out to a 12-2 lead in the fourth set before finishing off Pacific 25-12.

Mara Murphy recorded 19 kills and 11 digs for the Boxers. Sophomore
Emma Velchek had 13 kills and seven digs.

The Boxers, who are 1-7 in their last eight matches, dropped to 3-8 in the Northwest Conference.
