Boxers end scoreless drought in 3-1 win over Willamette

The Pacific men's soccer team earned a much-needed Northwest Conference victory, defeating Willamette 3-1 Wednesday night at Hanson Stadium.

The Boxers, who had not scored a goal in four matches, fell behind 1-0 in the sixth minute, but quickly answered when Garrett Heuett finished a corner kick  from Brodie Buchert to tie the Bearcats 1-1.

Pacific then took a 2-1 advantage in the eighth minute on a Willamette own goal.

Adam Landy extended the Boxers lead to 3-1 in the 63rd minute by outrunning a Willamette defender and putting the ball in the back of the net.

Pacific recorded seven shots on goal in the win. Goalkeeper Zach Aderinto had three saves.

The Boxers, who improved to 3-4-1 in the NWC, have won two straight against Willamette.

Next: Pacific plays at Lewis & Clark on Saturday.
