MCMINNVILLE -- Pacific's defense of its Northwest Conference regular season title didn't get off to the smoothest start Saturday.
The Boxers allowed three runs in the bottom of the first inning and five more in the second in a 12-4 loss at Linfield.
Pacific finished the game with just three hits and had six errors. The Boxers were able to draw nine walks, but left 10 runners on base.Â
Matt Gibbs was 2-for-4 with a walk, a home run, a double and two RBIs.Â
Linfield, who left 13 runners on base, added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth and seventh innings.
Next, Pacific plays two more games at Linfield on Sunday beginning at noon.
