CJ Colyer knocked in four runs and starting pitcher
Shane Melrose allowed just one run over six innings to lead Pacific to a 7-3 victory over Bethany Lutheran Thursday afternoon at Chuck Bafaro Stadium in Forest Grove.
Ty Yukumoto doubled to right field to lead off the bottom of the first inning and then scored, along with
Walker Matthews, on a single to center field by Colyer.
With two outs in the bottom of the third, Matthews singled and then scored on two-run homer to left field by Colyer, who went 2-for-3 with a walk in the win.
The Boxers added three more runs in the fourth inning to extend their lead to 7-0. After
Jack Rhea scored on a sacrifice fly to right field by
Damon Tanner, Yukumoto doubled to left field to drive in
Jake Gallagher and
Jett Mai.
Yukumoto went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a stolen base.
Matt Gibbs also had two hits and a stolen base.
On the mound, Melrose allowed six hits and one run with four strikeouts over six innings to earn the win.
Ayden Ruminski recorded the save, allowing two hits and one earned run over the final three innings.
Next, Pacific hosts Bethany Lutheran Friday in a doubleheader beginning at noon.
