Pacific's women's tennis program reached new heights Sunday.
For the first time since the Northwest Conference went to a four-team tournament in 2011, the Boxers will take part in the postseason after defeating Lewis & Clark 7-2 at the Holce Tennis Courts to close out the regular season.
Pacific won all three doubles matches. Cassidy and
Sydnie Binder defeated Susanna Anand and Seraphina Vossen 8-2 at No. 1 doubles to finish the spring undefeated.
Sofia Mazzola and
Mia Yamaguchi edged Charlotte Makoni and Hayley Kreps 8-6 at 2 doubles.
Valentina Casab-Klescova and
Morgan Wagoner topped Kacie Lau and Arielle Bloom 8-3 at 3 doubles.
The Boxers also won 4 of 6 singles matches.
Cassidy Binder defeated Anand 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 singles.
Sydnie Binder swept Vossen 6-1, 6-0 at 2 singles to finish 15-0 this spring.Â
Casab-Klescova edged Bloom 6-3, 5-7, 10-4 to take the 3 singles point and Mazzola dominated Emma Loucks 6-0, 6-1 at 4 singles.
Pacific finished 4-3 in the Northwest Conference and will be joined in the postseason tournament by NWC champion Whitman, George Fox and Whitworth.Â
The Boxers last made the NWC tournament in 2010 at the No. 6 seed in a six-team draw. Pacific's last win at the tournament came in 2009 when the Boxers finished fourth.Â
The Boxers will play in the 2024 NWC Tournament on April 20-21 at Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington. As the No. 3 seed, Pacific will open against No. 2 George Fox in the semifinals.Â
