TACOMA, Wash. -- Like an old seesaw, Pacific and Puget Sound went back and forth Saturday afternoon.
After Puget Sound took game one 11-10 in 10 innings, the Boxers answered with a 10-8 victory in game two to split the Northwest Conference doubleheader.
Game 1
Trailing 9-5, Pacific rallied with five runs in the top of the ninth inning to take a 10-9 lead.
The the Loggers tied the game in the bottom of the ninth and then won it in the 10th on a sacrifice fly to center field.
Senior
CJ Colyer hit his 16th home run of the season in the loss.
Walker Matthews was 2-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs.
Game 2
Pacific scored three runs in the top of the first inning and never trailed in game two.
Hunter Edwards gave the Boxers seven strong innings, allowing five hits and three runs with seven strikeouts.
Puget Sound brought the go-ahead runner to the plate in the bottom of the ninth, but
Governor Aufranc got a line out to shortstop to end the game and earn the save.
Colyer was 4-for-6 at the plate and scored two runs.
Ty Yukumoto was 3-for-6 with a double, three runs and a RBI.
Benjamin Lewis went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, a run and two RBIs.
The Boxers improved to 21-13 overall and 9-10 in the NWC with the game two win.
Next, Pacific concludes the three-game series against Puget Sound Sunday at noon.
